Why are italians called guineas?

Because the during WWII the Italian military fascist regime invaded Guinea Africa and set up base where Romel soon took over. The Guineans eventually revolted against the Italian army and drove the out. Americans and Brits who fought against the Germans and Italian sawreffred to the militia as the Guinee battalians.

Hence "guinea"
